I survived!

Or maybe I should say Philip survived. I just got back from my first trip yesterday. It was "supposed" to be nice and easy. For the most part things went smoothly other than getting re-crewed. I enjoyed my first full night's sleep in 6 months! Philip said Sarah did well other than the fact that she wouldn't take more than 3 ounces from her bottle at a time. Both Hannah and Micah cried when I left but I think Micah took it the hardest. I left at 6:30 and when I talked to him at 9:00 he was still crying. He told me he couldn't go to sleep because he couldn't stop thinking about me....talk about break my heart. It's a hard adjustment for everyone when they've gotten used to me being home for the last 8 months. The best part of the trip? Coming home! When Sarah saw me the first time she cried. It was a weird kind of excited cry. Then she reached for me and buried her head in my chest. I didn't cry the whole time I was gone but I almost cried when she did that! Now I'm counting down the days until January when I'm off for another month!!!

42 days

I can't believe I only have 42 days left until I go back to work! Wasn't I just counting down the days until my due date? I am so thankful for the time I have been able to spend at home with Sarah. It has been so precious and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I'm praying for a smooth transition into the working world. I'm also praying that I can take a leave of absence in January and February. So I guess going back to work for one month won't kill me!

Orlando

We spent fall break in steamy Orlando this year. I think it was in the 90's every day! So we did lots of this....

We also went to Universal Studio's where Hannah rode her first roller coaster. She was just tall enough and her daddy convinced her to ride this one in the background first....

I can't believe she didn't chicken out while she waited in line. She looked pretty nervous!

After she got off she was so proud of herself. Everyone that has asked if she had fun on vacation she proudly announces how she rode all of the roller coasters. She's my little daredevil. Honestly though I was a little teary eyed watching my baby girl ride all the grown up rides.

Of course they wanted to get their faces painted again this year.

Micah thoroughly enjoyed being scary. I wasn't thrilled but I figured hey it washes off. And most of it did about 30 minutes later because it was so stinkin hot.

We went to the Magic Kingdom one day where I got Sarah's picture wearing Mickey's Mouse ears.

Baptism

From the time my kids were born I prayed that someday they would choose to follow Christ. On August 23rd God answered those prayers. Hannah and Micah both choose to follow Christ that night at Kid's Jamm. As a believer your next step is baptism. We do not believe in baptizing babies....both of our children were dedicated as babies which just means that we as parents were committed to raising our children according to the principles in the bible. We believe that baptism is an outward show of the decision you made in your heart. Here is good explanation that...
Romans 6:1-7 - This shows us that the mode of baptism (immersion) pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. In the same way that He went through these things, our old nature is to “die” and we are to be “buried with Him through baptism into death” and raised to “walk in newness of life” (live like Jesus). So we do not just try to be a better person, we bury the “old person” in the water and become a “new person” through our acceptance of Christ. It is like a new birth and a new beginning for us.

Yesterday was an amazing day for both Philip and I. I know he was thrilled to able to baptize both Hannah and Micah....

Sarah's first three months

I can't believe how quickly time flies. Sarah is already almost 4 months old. She has been such a good happy baby. Her first smile was at 10 days old! It's even on video...we have proof! Don't get me wrong....she had her moments....we were up all night a few times. I have enjoyed every minute of these last three months. Every time she does something new I want to cry. It's funny how different you are as a parent from your first child to your third. With Hannah I was in such a hurry for her to do the next thing....smile, laugh, sit up, crawl, walk, etc. Poor Micah I was so busy with two kids under two I barely remember when he even did all these things. With Sarah I want to just stop time. I'm in no rush for her too grow up. This time in our lives is challenging but I'm sure not as challenging as it will be in a few years when we have two teenagers and a six year old. Here is Sarah's first three months....

May 30th 2009....Sarah's Birth Day!

I guess I should start where I left off. Here I am on Sarah's due date....still pregnant! I couldn't believe it. I swore she would come early. I suppose I jinxed myself. The next morning on May 29th we were "originally" scheduled for our induction. I say originally because that morning as I was getting ready a nurse called from the hospital to say that they would have to reschedule me because they were too full. I couldn't believe it! I thought maybe I would go into labor on my own that day but no luck.

So we woke up the next morning to do it all over again. This time things went smoothly. Labor was perfect. 9 hours of labor with very little pain! Epidurals are wonderful!

Sarah Elizabeth was born at 3:55pm weighing 8lbs 13oz. Labor was easy but pushing this girl out was work! It took them 45 min to stitch me up....ouch.

Worth all the work....and all the pain that would come later after the epidural wore off.

So it's really sad that I have not updated this blog in over 3 months! Inspired by Lisa I've given my blog a new look in hopes that it will encourage me to update more often. For now this is all I've got. The next post is going to be really long!

Last Month

This is officially my last month of pregnancy! I'm anxious for it to be over and sad at the same time. I have always enjoyed being pregnant and although toward the end I am ready for it to be over I know I'm going to miss it. More than likely this will be the last pregnancy for us. Although I said this with Micah...I really can't imagine having four kids!

I'm so anxious to kiss her little feet but sad that I won't be feeling her kick inside me. I'm anxious for Hannah and Micah to meet their little sister but sad to see how much they have grown. I'm anxious to hold a newborn baby again but sad because they don't stay little long enough. I'm anxious to see her wear all those adorable clothes hanging in her closet but sad because I know she will outgrow them so fast. I'm anxious to meet this new little one but sad to have this phase of my life over. I'm trying to enjoy every last minute because in a few short weeks....I won't have her all to myself anymore!

36 weeks....almost

I had a Dr's appointment today and I am 1 cm dilated! Now of course this probably means absolutely nothing since I could walk around for weeks being 1, 2 or even 3 cm's but at least it's progress. When they checked me at 33 weeks I wasn't dilated at all so that means in the last 3 weeks the contractions have been doing something! It probably won't be anytime soon but I'm getting anxious! My baby shower was Saturday...I got lots of great stuff and we pretty much have everything we need. Now I just have to wash all of her stuff, install the car seat, pick up a few last minute things, and wait till the big day!

Spring Break and other excitement

We had an Easter Egg Hunt again this year. We had about 60 kids which was great. This year we had it at the park that is right across the street from our new building. After the Easter Egg Hunt we went back to the building to work on it some more before Sunday. Lisa , Sandra and I decided to paint the other kids room. Probably not the best idea considering I am 8 months pregnant and Lisa is pregnant too. We managed to get the whole room painted but I ended up going to the hospital later that night. I started having contractions around 7pm and I noticed that they were pretty close together but I just figured they would stop on their own. Well around 11 pm I decided I better start timing them and I realized they were five minutes apart. I woke Philip up around midnight after I called the doctor and she said to get to the hospital. We we got there and they hooked me up to the monitors my contractions were 2 minutes apart! They gave me some IV fluids and a shot to stop the contractions. We were able to go home around 4am. Needless to say we were very tired Easter Sunday. I've tried to take it easy since then but last night it happened again. Around 8pm contractions started and they were immediately 2 minutes apart. I really didn't want to go to the hospital again so I drank some water, took some Tylenol, got in a warm bath to try to get them to stop. Around 11:30 I just went to bed. They were still around 5 minutes apart but I figured if they got any worse I would wake up. They must have stopped sometime during the night because this morning I was fine. So needless to say I will be shocked if she doesn't come early.

Hannah and Micah had Spring Break last week. We were hoping to get to the beach somewhere but the flights were too full. So instead we did some things around here. We went to the movies one day and Stone Mountain another. We were also really busy getting things ready around the new building for church. It's looking really good. Our grand opening service is this Sunday. We are hoping for around 200 people.

31 Week Ultrasound

Saturday we got to see baby Sarah one more time before she is here. The 4D ultrasound is so detailed. We saw her frown, smile, stick out her bottom lip, and open her eyes! Seeing her open her eyes was a little freaky but still really neat. It's so amazing to see her eyelashes, eyebrows, toenails, and even a little bit of peach fuzz on her head. I can't tell if she looks like Hannah or Micah but she was sticking out her bottom lip which Hannah used to do all the time. The ultrasound tech said she's weighs about 4lbs 6oz which seems a little big to me but she said it was about average. I just don't want her to be 9lbs!

Me at 31 weeks! Sometimes I still don't feel very big but then I see a picture! I still can't believe I have 8 more weeks to go. Maybe it will be less....a week or so early would be nice. I'm feeling pretty good other than the normal third trimester complaints. I have heartburn all the time! Even drinking water seems to give me heartburn especially if I try to lay down after drinking it. I'm still working...which is another story for another time. I only have two more short trips left and them I'm done until December! I can't wait...I am so ready to be home.

The third and final trimester! I can't believe it. It seems like the first few weeks go by so slow and now I can't even keep track of what week I'm in. Good thing for the ticker on my blog! I'm really trying to enjoy these last weeks while I have her all to myself. Soon enough it will be sleepless nights and trying to pry her away from Hannah. I'll be lucky if I get to hold my own baby! Here are the pictures from my ultrasound at 27 weeks. As you can tell from the second picture she is still a girl. I can't believe how good the 4D picture is. You can really tell what she looks like! In the post below I put up the video that Lisa took at the ultrasound.

What a difference a week makes! This is what it looked like last Sunday........

Today it's a beautiful sunny 75 degrees. The weather here can be pretty crazy sometimes. Of course I had to work in that crazy weather. The Atlanta airport or AirTran for that matter is not prepared to handle this type of weather. So needless to say there were about 150 cancleations with just our airline and pretty much outright chaos. Regardless Hannah and Micah loved it. School was closed on Monday so they got a day off. The snow even stuck around for several days...the last of it just melted two days ago.

My ticker now says 98 days.....whoo hoo! Philip swears I won't last that long though. I'm starting to think he may be right. I'm feeling huge and uncomfortable but I still have three more months to go! Working until 34 weeks was just a big dream I guess. I'm going to finish out this month and then probably do office work in March. Then in April I can get my vacation and sick days paid out. When I'm at work people are constantly asking me how much longer I plan to fly, when I'm due, and all kinds of other questions. It's not just the passengers either. Other flight attendants ask me the same questions too...kind of like "hint, hint" isn't it time to quit?! Guess I should expect it at this point. Here's my 24 week picture....

Micah's Birthday was a couple weeks ago but of course I'm just getting around to posting about it. I attempted a skateboard cake which I think turned out pretty good. My neighbor Jeannie made the ramp for me. The hardest part was trying to cover it with the fondant.

Philip and I bought the crib last week! I couldn't wait to put it together....I'm so impatient. Plus I had to see what the bedding would look like! Hannah and Micah are great helpers so it went pretty well. Lisa and Jeannie came over later to help with the changing table. There are still some finishing touches that the room needs but I've still got plenty of time for that!

Hannah, Micah and my mom all felt the baby move on Sunday! She was really squirming around in there so they didn't have to wait long to feel her. Micah said it felt like when the XBox controller shakes. I thought that was a funny analogy. He's so cute! Philip felt her move at 18 weeks but up until now he had been the only one...except me.

We bought the crib for her on Friday. It wasn't in stock so we have to wait a few weeks for it but that's fine because I'm still working on cleaning up her room. It was such a mess...especially the closet. It feels good to be cleaning out stuff. It needed to to be done anyway. Now that some of her things are hanging in the closet and it's starting to feel like her room. I can't wait to get her crib set up.

I'm ready for a change, an adventure, something different. Don't ask me why, it's not like we haven't had enough change this last year. This is odd for the girl that never liked change. I like comfort, stability, routine. I was telling Philip today that I either want to have another baby, get a dog or go back to work. Of course he voted for the job. We have no maternity coverage so a baby would be very very expensive. We can't seem to agree on a dog. I want a small to medium size dog, he wants a lab or retriever. So I guess a job is the only thing we can agree on. Still a lot to consider and pray about. My family always comes first and since I don't "have" to work, I wonder if I should. I want something that would be flexible, not full time. We'll see what God has in store.

I remember writing that post but I had no idea at the time that I would end up with all three! By November 2006 I had the job. By July 2007 we had the puppy. And finally by September 2008 I was pregnant! OK so no more asking God for big changes in my life....who knows what else would happen! Thanks Sandra for pointing out the funny way God answers our prayers!

Halfway!

Well I am now 20 weeks and officially halfway through this pregnancy. I'm feeling much better as far a nausea and appetite are concerned but now I'm starting to get uncomfortable. I'm eating like crazy...I feel hungry constantly. But I've still only gained 7 pounds! I officially can not sleep unless I have a pillow between my legs and under my belly. My belly is just starting to get in the way at work. Fitting between the seats and squeezing around people is challenging. Also our jumpseats reek havoc on my back...they are so uncomfortable. I find myself standing most of the time and then of course my feet hurt. Only 14 more weeks of work....hopefully I can make it that long with out having to do light duty.

Speaking of work I'm on reserve this month which is a big bummer. Going from 19 days off to 10 is an adjustment. This week was my first block of five days in a row. I sat at the airport for the first day. The second day I got a 3 day trip and yesterday the sent me home and I have home reserve today. I don't think they will call since it's my last day....keeping my fingers crossed. So far it hasn't been bad. I've only worked three days unless you count the first day when I spent all day sitting at the airport playing on facebook and watching House...hehe. This should be the only month on reserve because it looks like I'll go back to a regular line next month! God has really taken care of me through all of this. It was really stressful for me to not have control of my schedule again...especially being pregnant. But so far so good. I've tried to keep a positive attitude about it and Philip has been really encouraging and supportive as usual.

We are still debating on a name but it looks like Sarah Elizabeth may have won out. I can't seem to find any other biblical names ending in "ah" that I like. Really I haven't found any other names that don't end in "ah" that I like either. I saw a friend of mine at the airport the other name and she mentioned that she had a cousin named Sarah Elizabeth and for short they called her Sarabeth. I really fell in love with that...it's so cute. So unless something else comes along that we like better Sarah is it!

Growing up

Sometimes I think my kids are growing up before my eyes. Hannah especially. These last 6 months she has changed so much. Here's a picture from every month starting in July all the way through December. She's had a major growth spurt and her face in really filling out. She looks so grown up. I guess I'm being a little nostalgic since I'll be having another little girl before I know it.

I still can't believe it but we're going to have another baby girl! I've thought it was a boy since the beginning. Although the last few weeks every dream or other random thought I had the baby was a girl. I guess the Chinese calender was right with this one! The ultrasound was so much fun. I loved seeing her moving around. The 3D/4D was amazing although some of the pictures seem pretty blurry. Maybe because she was moving around so much. We have so many pictures though it was easy to find a few good ones. We even got a disk with all the pictures and a DVD! I've already watched the DVD three times! I can't wait to go back again at 30 weeks. Now it's time to start picking out all the fun baby stuff. We already bought her some clothes!

13 Days!

Less than two weeks away from our 3D ultrasound! I can not wait to find out what this baby is. I'm still thinking it is a boy, although the Chinese lunar calendar says the baby is a girl. So I checked the calendar to see if it accurately predicted the sex of Hannah and Micah and it was 50/50. Correct with Hannah and incorrect with Micah. So I guess we're 50/50...big surprise. The baby has been moving around more...especially today. I put Hannah's hand on my belly but of course he/she stopped then. I don't think she could have felt it anyway but I can tell the kicks are getting stronger. Here's my 16 week belly shot.

Well I didn't have to wait long for those little flutters. One day after my last post I felt them. It was so exciting I almost started crying. This is the best part of pregnancy. I'm going to try to enjoy every minute of it. Since Sunday I've only felt the baby a few more times...it's so early I have to be sitting absolutely still to feel it. I can't wait for Hannah to be able to feel, she's so excited.

Also I made the appointment for the 3D ultrasound. We will know what this little one is on December 27th! Hopefully he/she cooperates. I can't wait to see him/her. The last ultrasound was at 8 weeks and you couldn't see anything. I'll be 18 weeks at the appointment so it will be perfect. I think I convinced Philip to let me have two of the 3D ultrasounds so I'll go back for another one around 30 weeks so we can get some better profile shots. I can't wait!

Tomatoes

Strangely enough I have a new fondness for tomatoes.I never liked them until now. Another one of those pregnancy things I guess. My dad used to try to make me eat them with sugar....never really understood that one.

I am now 14 weeks and waiting patiently to feel this little one moving around. I checked Hannah's baby book a few weeks ago and I felt her at 16 weeks. I'm hoping it will be any day now. I've felt a few things that I think may have been the baby but it's so hard to tell this early. I can't wait...it's my favorite part of pregnancy!

12 Weeks

I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and everything looks great. The baby's heart rate was in the 150's. I think it's a boy. Hannah's heart rate was always high and Micah's was low. Now I know it's completely a myth but based on my other two...it's a boy. We'll know for sure when we do the 3D ultrasound but that's still two months away...if I can wait until I'm 20 weeks. I also haven't gained any weight yet, which I'm not surprised about. My appetite has been terrible. I'm am so ready to be able to really enjoy food again.

I think we've made some kind of plan for maternity leave which I am so relieved about. I just got my award for vacation next year and I got the last two weeks of April which works out perfect. I can work the first two weeks of April and then be off the last two and start my maternity leave in May. That gives me 6 weeks off until my due date. If all goes well I should be able to work until I'm 34 weeks without having to do light duty (office work) which I am really trying to avoid. Total I will be taking a 6 month leave of absence which will put me back to work in November. I plan to do standups in November and December so that I can be home most of the day. In January they will probably offer a leave of absence again and if we can afford it maybe I can take January and February off. So that's the plan for now. It make me so much more relaxed to have some sort of plan. Now I can start getting excited about this baby!

I can't believe I haven't updated in two weeks...well wait a minute yes I can. I'm just terrible about blogging. Anyway I'm almost through my first trimester.....YEAH! We go on Thursday for another doctor's appointment. We should get to hear the baby's heartbeat with the Doppler which I'm really looking forward to. It's always such a relief. I'm feeling pretty good. The last few weeks I've had some nausea and absolutely no appetite. Nothing sounds good to me so I just have to force myself to eat. My belly is getting bigger too....not that anyone else notices. I'm wearing my maternity jeans full time now! I could probably still squeeze into my pre-preggo ones with the rubber band trick but these are way more comfortable. I can still wear all of my pre-preggo shirts but I have bought some maternity ones. I also ordered by maternity uniform for work which is just hideous, I can't believe I'm going to have to wear it so I'm putting it off for as long as possible!

So for you four people who read my blog I'll try to update more often but no guarantees!

Well I'm here at my mom's hanging out with my family. We're going to have a BBQ tomorrow and hang out with my brother which will be really nice. Lots of yummy food too. Not that I need anymore. I feel huge lately. I don't think I've gained any weight, at least not since last week. My stomach just feels huge. It's like as soon as I got pregnant my abdominal muscles just gave up. My belly starts right under my ribs which makes look even bigger. I took some 8 week belly shots but I don't think I'm going to post them. I don't like any of them...uggh. By 12 weeks I'll probably be in maternity clothes! Good news though is that I really haven't been very sick. I've only thrown up twice and that was last week when I had that cold. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed..before I know it the first trimester will be over. Now I'm just worried about gaining a ton of weight since I haven't had much morning sickness!

Food cravings food aversions

One of the funny things about being pregnant is the way food affects you. All of a sudden now there are things that I can't stand. Like cinnamon gum not cinnamon in general just gum. Coarse ground pepper. I still like regular pepper just not the coarse ground pepper. And Japanese food, mainly teriyaki chicken and fired rice. Two months ago I still loved all of these things now the mere thought of them makes me want to gag. On the other hand there are things I crave that I didn't eat at all before or didn't eat very often. Like strawberry milkshakes, I liked milkshakes before but not really strawberry. Soft pretzels, I just bought a mega box of 36 at BJ's. Ice water, normally I like to drink water room temperature. Now I love ice water which is so strange to me.

Ultrasound

Today was our first ultrasound. Everything was great. We heard the heartbeat and saw our little bean. It was a little surreal having an ultrasound again. I was pretty sure we wouldn't be seeing that room again. It definitely makes it more real seeing that little heartbeat on the screen. Wow I hope we're ready for this again!

As if morning sickness wasn't enough

Now I've got a nasty cold. It started as soon as we got back from vacation. I had a trip that started on Monday and I went hoping that I would be feeling better. Unfortunately it got worse. I ended up calling work when I was in Orlando monday night. Luckily they had someone who could replace me and they sent me home on the first flight tuesday morning. I've pretty much been in bed ever since. My ultrasound is tomorrow so hopefully I'll be feeling better by then. I'll do pictures from vacation soon....It was great!

My friend Lisa came over to take pictures tonight. I'm still in shock about how big I look in some of them...I've got to be bloated. There is no way that I'm showing at 6 weeks. The camera must add 10 pounds...to your belly! She got some great pictures. Thanks Lisa!

Jeans, t-shirts and sneakers

So I pretty much can't get Micah to wear anything other than jeans and sneakers. Even this summer he didn't really want to wear shorts and especially not khaki ones. Oh and not only that but he doesn't like collared or button down shirts either. I just bought him a nice pair of brown shoes and of course he doesn't like those either. I told him on the cruise he doesn't have a choice, he'll have to wear the button down shirt and nice shoes......he is definitely not excited. Who knew boys could be so picky.

Baby pictures

Right now Hannah and Micah are looking at baby pictures of themselves. It's funny to listen them ask questions about themselves and what they were like as babies. Plus I love looking at the pictures too. They were so little. I can't wait to be holding a tiny baby like that again. It goes by so fast. I think I'll really treasure the short time that this baby is tiny. Even with the sleepless nights!

Five weeks

It's been one week since I took my pregnancy test....well three tests actually. If my calculations are correct I'm five weeks along. I'll be going to the doctor next week so they can confirm that. I'm feeling pretty good. A little bit of nausea once in a while but other than that I'm fine. We leave for our cruise next Friday so I'm hoping I feel this good then. I'm a little anxious about the cruise and how I'm going to be feeling and what I'll be able to do. I was really looking forward to trying snuba which is a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving but I'm not sure if it's safe to do while you pregnant. Well at least I'll be able to eat what I want with no guilt!

Party of Five!

Philip, Angela, Hannah, Micah and baby makes FIVE. That's right another baby. I think I'm still in shock myself and although this baby was not planned by us God has known all along. Hannah and Micah are beyond thrilled. Hannah says goodnight to the baby every night, it's so sweet. Micah informed me that he will change diapers but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. Philip is still in shock like me but we're getting used to the idea that we will now be a family of five. My first appointment is October 2nd.....I'm sure it will really hit me then. Life is about to change drastically for us. Good thing pregnancy is nine months....I'm going to need it!
